Chatgpt threat report

OpenAI's Computer History feature for ChatGPT on macOS creates a data-theft risk by storing activity summaries as plain-text Markdown files in a local directory accessible to malware running under the same user account. The feature, launched in mid-August 2026, converts user interactions (clicks, text input, app switching, browser context) into readable memory files that could expose sensitive work information such as emails, documents, and contacted individuals. While opt-in and disabled by default, it presents an attractive target for macOS infostealers that previously had to scatter-gather credentials and browser artifacts from multiple locations.
